How We Cover Every Story
Most news outlets make a choice: pick a frame and stick to it. Well This Is News is built around a different premise. Every story has more than one truthful telling. Our job is to show you all of them.
Here is exactly how we do it.
The Three-Perspective Model
Every story published on Well This Is News is presented through three distinct editorial frameworks simultaneously.
Left
Left draws on progressive and center-left sources, surfacing the framing, emphasis, and interpretive choices that characterize coverage from that side of the political spectrum. This is not a caricature of liberal opinion. It is an honest representation of how left-leaning outlets are covering the story, what they are emphasizing, what they consider significant, and what language they are using to describe events.
Right
Right draws on conservative and center-right sources, applying the same discipline in the other direction. What is the story as told by right-leaning outlets? What details are foregrounded? What interpretive frame is being applied? What does the conservative media ecosystem consider the most important angle?
Straight
Straight draws on wire services, nonpartisan outlets, and primary source documentation to present the factual core of the story stripped of editorial framing. This is not a claim of perfect objectivity. It is a disciplined attempt to identify what is documented, sourced, and verifiable, independent of how either side has chosen to frame it.
How Sources Are Selected
Our editorial system monitors a curated list of sources spanning the full range of American political media. Sources are selected based on reach, credibility, and editorial consistency. We do not include fringe or unreliable sources in any perspective framework.
For each story we identify:
- How left-leaning outlets are covering it and what framing they are applying
- How right-leaning outlets are covering it and what framing they are applying
- What wire services, nonpartisan outlets, and primary documents establish as factual
Each perspective links to its source so readers can read the original coverage themselves.
The Analysis Layer
Beyond the three perspectives, every story on Well This Is News includes an original analytical layer written under our editorial standards. This layer does not take sides. It asks a different set of questions:
- What is each side emphasizing and what are they leaving out?
- Where do the two framings diverge most significantly?
- What do the documented facts establish independent of either narrative?
- What institutional, political, or economic context shapes how this story is being told?
This is the layer that distinguishes Well This Is News from a standard aggregator. We are not simply collecting coverage. We are analyzing how narratives are constructed around the same set of facts.
What This Model Is Not
We do not claim to be perfectly neutral. No editorial product is. What we claim is a disciplined methodology, applied consistently, that gives readers the tools to evaluate coverage rather than simply consume it.
We do not tell you what to think. We show you how the story is being told, by whom, and from what angle. The judgment is yours.
