Getting It Right

Well This Is News is committed to accuracy. When we fall short of that standard we correct the record promptly, transparently, and without qualification.

Our Commitment

Errors are inevitable in any publication operating at the speed of the modern news cycle. What matters is how a publication responds to them. Our policy is simple: when we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. We do not quietly edit stories without disclosure. We do not minimize corrections. We do not delay acknowledgment of errors to protect the publication’s reputation.

Credibility is built on accountability, not perfection.

What Qualifies for a Correction

We issue corrections for:

Factual errors in any published story, including headlines, summaries, and analytical content
Misattributed quotes or statements
Incorrect dates, figures, names, or titles
Sourcing errors where a claim was attributed to the wrong outlet or document
Errors in perspective framing where a source was misrepresented

We issue clarifications for:

Language that was technically accurate but potentially misleading
Context that was missing and materially affects reader understanding
Ambiguous phrasing that generated significant reader confusion

How Corrections Are Handled

When an error is identified, by our editorial team or reported by a reader, we follow this process:

Verification. We confirm the error against primary sources or original documentation before issuing a correction.
Correction. We update the published story with the corrected information. The correction is noted at the top or bottom of the story with a brief description of what changed and when.
Disclosure. We do not silently edit stories. Every correction includes a timestamp and a plain-language description of what was corrected.

We do not delete stories to avoid issuing corrections. We do not alter the substance of a story without disclosure.

How to Report an Error

If you believe a story contains a factual error, a misattribution, or misleading framing, we want to hear from you.

The headline or URL of the story
The specific claim you believe is incorrect
The correct information and any supporting source you can provide

We review all correction requests. We respond to substantive requests within two business days. We do not guarantee a correction for every request, but we take every request seriously and evaluate each one against our verification standards.

Perspective Corrections

Because Well This Is News presents stories through multiple editorial frameworks, perspective corrections operate slightly differently. If a left or right perspective framework misrepresents how a source actually covered a story, we will correct the framework and update the source attribution. We do not issue corrections for differences of interpretation between sources. We issue corrections when a source has been factually misrepresented.

Editorial Accountability

Our corrections process is overseen by our editorial leadership. Patterns of error in any coverage area are reviewed and addressed through our editorial standards process. We treat our corrections record as an indicator of editorial health, not editorial failure.
